Twenty-two people turned out for our second unrated blitz tournament, which ended up being a G/5 d/5 event instead of G/5 d/2 given a seeming bug in our club chess clocks. Ten of the participants were first-time visitors to the club, so we’re still growing at a nice tick.
Congratulations to Pranav, Shashi and Cody for their first-place tie, while Cody’s performance was of particular note given he’s relatively new to over-the-board chess with a clock (far as I know)—he’ll likely be one of those juniors whom we can’t touch in a blitz game a couple years hence if he continues to improve at his current pace. Cameron Rampell, another strong junior at the club, also had an excellent result, winning his last three games to tie for 5th with a bunch of seasoned adults—well done, both of you!
We’ll hold another unrated blitz tourney in 5-6 weeks, after our upcoming rated mini-marathon which begins next Wednesday. As always, we hope to see all of you at the club soon!
